Custom Kindle Screensavers
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on my blog so I thought I’d share this cheeky little hack I’ve been enjoying on my Kindle.
For me, it was a little annoying to see pictures of authors whose books I don’t even own appear on the screen of my beloved reading device every time I put it on standby.
I know what you’re thinking, “Surely, you don’t really look at your Kindle when you’re not reading it and have it on standby.” But I do, so deal with it.
My First Painting – Rose
Ever since starting my current job back in May-ish 2011, I’ve moaned, whined and wrestled with the fact that my work completely voids me of any form of social life if I want to earn enough money to actually do anything with what time I do get off. Thank you unsociable hours!
Since October of that year, I have been indulging in artwork of different formats and after the inspiration this has given me (and after picking up an easel for £2.37 off eBay), I decided that I could give painting on canvas a go.
Laughter – The Language of Bonding
Have you ever wondered why you get told not to laugh at your own jokes? Or why they say that if you can make a girl laugh, you’re half way there? Would it shock you to learn that laughter is rarely a reaction to something that is funny?
Laughter is actually a component of a universal language understood by everyone, regardless of where they’re from or what vocal languages they speak. Example: If you saw someone crying, you would understand that they were doing so in response to grief or sorrow. If you heard someone screaming at the top of their lungs, you would instinctively know that their shrieking was in response to fear.
Master Your Memory
Since leaving college for university – structured, enforced education for more free form, self-enforced education – it had been noticed that my knack for learning new things had depreciated when compared to my involvement in the regimented information drills of the high school class room. Perhaps I had become lazy, or I lacked the self-motivation that university life required of me, maybe even both! Either way, I decided to do something about it. After performing an online search, a book entitled “A Guide To Memory Increase” by Rocco Oppedisano was found, review checked and obtained for reading on my kindle.
This psychology book draws upon research of various neurological scientists to present some thought provoking (and enhancing) information. The information that is being shared with you, is what I have learned and interpreted about mnemonic principles which help you memorise practically anything for as long as you choose to remember it.
Thinking Space
Thinking is something that has become more of a chore than a habit in this fast paced day and age. Most of our processes are duplicates of previous actions, “We’ve been here before, we’ll do what worked last time.” Leaving us feeling edgeless and trapped.
Awakening your thinking powers has automatic effects on your life: It allows for growth and heightens your problem solving abilities. Thinking brings out the best in your inherent intelligence and your emotional intelligence will reveal itself. Thinking is an instant leap towards becoming the best you that you can be.
